Lyrics to Goody Goody

Anne Marie
(brusca)

Well I thought you'd bring your Anne Marie
and stick her in the back seat
till she bit off all her nails and then she made some sort of move
Well she always had a thing for you
she thought one and one and one was two
at Jim's party she really pissed me off
She chugged her beer fast
no she did not let it last
she pulled the leash and Anne Marie was there
Well Ann Marie had telepathy
she came and went as she pleased
and I'm never gonna be the same again
And she said you go upstairs
tell him I'm there
and I'll go outside
Make him think he's real special and I'll be right behind
Pull apart the Ann Marie
Go ahead and set her free
So we can let the moment last a little bit longer
Pull apart the Ann Marie
Go ahead and cut her free
So we can just get the whole thing over now
get it over now
get it over now

Cheap Trick
(lyrics by brusca, music by kapoor)

I'm not saying she didn't hold my hand
I'm not saying I didn't feel the ice in my spine
I'm not saying that she made me a man
I'm just saying that she could have been mine
I'm not playing the video from that year
I'm not playing because the irony was too damn thick
She was subjective and I'm not saying that again
I'm just saying she was as good as any place to begin
There was a full moon she's somewhere out there
Six pack and I'm feeling alright
Cheap Trick playing Budakon
Summer's here and Summer's gone
I'm not saying she had her sisters eyes
I'm not saying I stole her necklace away
I wasn't paying attention to the highway signs
I'm just saying that the Summer turned out okay

Father Anthony
(brusca)

Could I have been a little more ugly
when the silver toothed fairy came down and kissed me
I ran and I ran and I got a yellow ribbon
and it sat on my wall so awkwardly
Me and some boys got a toothpick joint
and we smoked it down behind the old swing
We through we could hear the angles talking to us
but it was just our moms wondering where we've been
And god bless god bless father Anthony
when he comes home tonight
God bless god bless father Anthony
he's gonna make every thing all right
God bless god bless father Anthony
when he comes home tonight
God bless god bless father Anthony
Girls choice boys choice standing on the bleachers
when it came my turn to stand and fight
I got her and we danced and we danced
and the coach knew my name and I was totally right
Blisses and kisses and a sense of delusion
Peter Paul and Mary suddenly spoke to me
In a voice that sounded so hallelujah
boiled over to hypocrisy.

Goody Goody
(lyrics by brusca, music by kapoor, hook, kline, brusca)

She was a good one
She was a goody goody
She was a good one
but she never got what she wanted
She's got a boyfriend
He was a goody goody
Life's got a funny way
of never ever giving her what she wanted
To get out of her funky life
He was a good one
He was a goody goody
He was a good one
but he never got what he wanted
He played the guitar
He's banging on the drums
He tried to write a song
He never ever gave her what she wanted
To get out of her life no matter how she tried
Cookie cutting out a life
from People magazine
While she was sitting in the Doctor's office panicking
About the babies gonna die one way or another
It doesn't matter if she there
It doesn't' matter if she's anywhere
She was a good one
Her daddy's little one
The neon sign is on
He never gave her what she wanted
She's in the bathroom
Tiled against the floor
Smell of disinfectant
and he never never gave her what she wanted
She was a good one
but the boys in the band they don't understand
She was a good one
but her mom and her dad they don't understand

Religious Girls
(brusca)

There was a time
There was so many things and objects that I held
They were all mine
Other people came and tried to take them back
Each step I take
Each step I wonder if I'll tangle up my web
I never retrace
I just keep walking on ahead
But the song on the Hi-Fi stereo receiver
How long has it been on
The radio made me a believer
I'm not a creature
I just want to meet her
But the religious girls walked on by
Why why why
why must I always sail on down the line
I am so full
I am fulfilled with all the things that I have known
I wear a hat
I wear so many clothes my closet overflows
My head is spinning
My head is spinning and it's never gonna be the same
I can't begin
I can't begin to believe that I never change
Sail on sail on
Religious girls sail on down the line

The Show
(brusca)

Mom and dad won't you let me go
'round the bay to the town to the club to the show
Gordo is driving his grandpa's white truck
Don't mind the way we dress the way we drive
the way we never talk
Bottle of Vodka and five Dixie cups
From the front of the cab to the back of the white truck
Spikes and old boots and a sense of impending confusion
And I've got a five dollar ticket in my hand
We'll I'm misunderstood I'm a troubled young hood
and I'm going to see the band
Yes I'm misunderstood and I just ain't no good
and I'm going to see the band
I picked up John and Elise at Maria's house
She's got her hair spiked and he's got his Clash t-shirt on
It's a week night there's plenty of cars on the road so let's go
Let's hit the highway go right past the theater
The sound check's about over
Oh babe can't you feel it
The bass drum the snare drum the floor tom
all ready to rumble and stumble right into my stomach
I got a green stamp because I'm under age
But it really don't matter because I'm already wasted
trying not to smile because I'm trying to be cool
With my pins and my thin tie and oversized suit coat
Hands in my pocket I'm pushing my way
right next to the monitors in front of the stage
The mic stand's got a row of brown picks and the set list is readable

Old Milwaukee
(lyrics by brusca, music by kapoor/brusca)

Passing the word around the school yard
there's gonna be a gathering tonight
Tell your folks that you're going to the picture show
and Dave Gordo's gonna drive
Gonna drive his parents blue and white Plymouth Valiant
right over the Samoa Bridge
And my brother's got a friend's gotta friend's
gotta friend who says getting beer's gonna be a cinch
The waves are rolling in and out of my mind
The fire starts to die down slowly
What's ahead and what's behind
Well don't really mind cuz we're out all night
Gotta gotta gotta gotta gotta get up and go
To the Old Milwaukee
Somebody brought a boom box
and I'm listening to X as they're singing to me
Sing "Johnny hit and run Johnny hit and run
Johnny hit Johnny hit and run Pauline"
Well I'm standing knee deep
in a pile of last weekends dirty memories
And I'm singing a song about the good ol' days
about the way things used to be
Lap dancing with a girl I hardly know
but tonight she looks okay
Her boyfriend is working down town tonight
across from the arcade
Billy Joel's playing on the car radio
and he's singing to me about dying young
Tonight I'm only having fun
yeah tonight I'm only having fun

2000 Motel Rooms
(lyrics by brusca, music by hook/dapoor/brusca)

Sun shining in the window
on a body stretch sideways across the bed
2000 motel flashing neon signs inside my head
On the wall above the TV
there's a velvet portrait of my favorite spot
Toss and turn cuz the walls are banging
sitting on the balcony and all the doors are locked
You know I wanna come inside
They're selling cheap stuff right inside
40,000 people are crammed inside
Won't somebody let me in those
2000 motel rooms
2000 motel rooms
2000 motel rooms inside my head inside my head
I start shaking then I start counting
backwards as the elevator falls
Can't that damn DJ stop yakking
long enough to candy coat the song
I can't believe that the visitors are still awake
and spitting in my face
2000 motel rooms
Tuscaloosa Alabama isn't so far away

Don't Go
(brusca)

He left the band he left the band
said he's gonna go and stay with a friend
Remember how we used to jam up in Jim's piano room
We'll I drank a beer at our first show
You said I looked stupid
I learned a lot from you did you learn anything from me
Don't go I really need you
Don't go I couldn't do it without you
Don't go leaving yourself
because you're never gonna make it with no one else
We were in San francisco when the band broke up
so we got in the van and we drove around
Because the show goes on no it never really ends
We'll we all got drunk at our first show
We all looked stupid
I learned a lot from you did you learn anything from me

Beer Truck Driver
(brusca)

I want to be a beer truck driver
I want to see that all the beer inside her
Safely makes it to its destination
I want to be a beer truck driving sensation
When I was only a child I was riding the bus to school
I saw a terrible accident on the side of the road
and the memory haunts me still
A big old truck that was full of suds
had passed over on its side
There were bottles broken all over the street
there were very few left inside
A river of beer it was flowing right down County Lane
It foamed down into the gutter and down the sidewalk drain
As the bus slowly passed the scene of the accident
I pressed my face to the school bus window
and to myself I said
Well I grew up with the rules of the road
and my goals that seemed so clear
I learned that everything that is in back of me
may be closer than it appears
I was on a mission to save the folks
who needed a cold beer
After a long hot day with little pay
I would be right there for you
I went down to beer truck driving school
Like the man at the plant he told me to
He said look me up when you get class 4
and I'll see what I can do for you
When I die many years from now
I want all the beer drinkers to somehow
Remember their frosty bottle or can
that appeared there in their hand
I want everybody to raise their bottle of beer and say to me
To all the eighteen wheel chariots
and all the beer driving patriots
Because without them we wouldn't even have a name
because beer drinking is our game
Beer truck drivers won't you give them a hand
and let me hear it again
I want to be a beer truck driver
